Chocolatier Jacques Torres, defiant today under attack from lawyers for Hershey of Pennsylvania, claiming infringement on the giant company’s foil wrapped milk chocolate kisses, is giving away 10,000 free samples of his $1.25 Champagne Kiss at his three locations in New York City:  the original in Brooklyn’s Dumbo, at 285 Amsterdam and at 350 Hudson Street where he can be found right now defending himself and pooh-poohing the threatened suit. "Why are they coming after me, the little guy, when no one would mistake their chocolates for mine?" he is quoted today in the NY Post. "I respect what they do, but I was shocked when I received this letter." Hope it’s not too late. I‘ve got to run now around the corner to Jacques’ Amsterdam shop (click and scroll) half a block from my office and claim my kiss.
